The diagram below shows how a biofuel called ethanol is produced.

The diagram shows how ethanol, a type of biofuel, is produced. Overall, in this cyclic process, carbon dioxide, involved both at the start and end, is a fundamental component that helps the growth of flora used to produce the fuel in question through the machinery of chemical science.

The natural part of the procedure begins with the plants and trees absorbing carbon dioxide and sunlight through photosynthesis, which contributes to their sustained growth for the harvest season. Once farmers harvest the vegetation, the product is transferred to specific facilities for pre-processing, which involves using a particular piece of agricultural equipment to convert the plants into cellulose. This product marks the beginning of a new stage.

In a vastly different process involving chemical facilities and labs, cellulose must be processed and broken down at a molecular level for sugar molecules to appear. These molecules, however, need an additional element for ethanol to be produced, which is a particular microbe that causes fermentation. Ethanol, as the final output, is then formed and used in all sorts of airborne and land-based vehicles, and as a result, carbon dioxide is produced and released into the atmosphere to start the process anew.
