The plans show a harbor in 2000 and how it looks today.
The plans show Porth Harbor in 2000 and the changes made to it today. Overall, the sea-related services changed or expanded, and a more comprehensive range of amenities is offered to provide visitors with a more enjoyable stay, with a few aspects of the harbor remaining intact.
Regarding essential services, in 2000, there were two public beaches, one in the North and one in the South, whereas today, only the northern beach is open to the public. Another development of this nature pertains to the sailing experiences offered. While there was only one dock for passenger ferries in the northern area, an additional dock has been constructed today, accommodating more vessels. The marina that provided sailing to private yachts in the north relocated to a fishing bay previously in the south with a larger space. The only aspect that remained unchanged was the position of lifeboats in the south.
Regarding extra services, in 2000, there was only one area for showers and toilets, whereas today, a new facility has been erected between the two car parks, which is one of the features that did not change radically; only the southern car park is now directly connected to the main road. The addition of cafés and shops in the south and a hotel represents another notable alteration – the hotel used to be an abandoned castle with no road access, unlike today, and the beach in its vicinity is privatized for those staying there.
