The chart shows the ten most dominant countries in producing and consuming electricity (in billion kWh) in the year 2014. Overall, two of the listed countries show unrivaled records, followed by three of them with mid-range rates, and generally, they produced more energy than they consumed.
China produced and consumed, on average, a massive 5300 billion kWh, whereas the US records are about 4000 in production and 3800 in consumption. Mid-ranked countries, namely Russia, Japan, and India, have records that are four or five times smaller. For instance, approximately 1000 units were produced by Russia, almost all of which were used. Japan followed closely with generally similar figures, but the figures for India were notably lower, at 871 and nearly 700.
The remaining countries, namely Canada, France, Brazil, Germany, and Korea, produced and consumed between 500 and 600, and the smallest figures were reported for Korea, with Germany being the only country whose consumption overtook production by a small margin.
