The graph shows the types of transport used by tourists who visited New Zealand from five countries in 2004.

The bar chart shows four kinds of transportation—air, coach, car, and ferry—and the frequency of their use by tourists from five nations in 2004. The data suggest two broad patterns: visitors from Britain, Germany, and Australia most commonly travelled by coach, followed in order by air, car, and ferry, whereas Japanese and Korean tourists showed a different hierarchy of preferences. Another general observation is that ferry use was consistently the least common mode across all nationalities.
For the British, coach travel was the most frequently used mode, at almost 60, followed by air travel at approximately 42. Cars and ferries were considerably less common, at around 30 and 20, respectively. German tourists displayed a broadly similar profile: although their coach figure was slightly lower (about 55), air travel was marginally higher at just over 40, while car use was more pronounced at roughly the mid-30s. Australians showed a comparable pattern, with coach again the most favored mode at 50, whereas air and car were noticeably less preferred, at about 25 and 20, and ferry the least used at around 12.
By contrast, Japanese tourists preferred air travel slightly more than coach, at about 52 and 48 respectively, while car and ferry were far less common, at roughly 22 and 8. Korean visitors exhibited a distinct pattern: car travel was the dominant mode, at around 47, followed by air and coach at approximately 42 and 35. Ferry use was minimal among this group, at just 5.
